Napa Valley College Offers Improv Class for Teens

Sept. 13 - Oct. 6

The Young Actors Conservatory at Napa Valley College is offering a new workshop for teens entitled "Live and Unscripted!" - Improv for Teens. Geared for students ages 13-18, the class will offer young actors the opportunity to explore techniques used by the comedic geniuses on Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, and Who's Line Is It Anyway? This is a physical, fun class that helps students learn skills to help them think on their feet, without using a script! Participants will learn acting technique through theater games and exercises focused on body, voice, and imagination. The class culminates with an improvised showcase performance for family and friends on the last day (Thur., Oct 6 at 5:15 p.m.).

“We are excited to cultivate the next generation of theater artists and audiences,” enthuses Jennifer King, professor of Theater at Napa Valley College and artistic director of Napa Valley Conservatory Theater.

“Live and Unscripted” meets Sept. 13 – Oct. 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuition is $150. Twelve year-olds may be admitted after a phone interview.  For information, to enroll, or to schedule a phone interview, call 707-256-7502.
