
Khaled Aboudamous Elizabeth Corey
Napa Valley College will award 1,027 degrees and certificates at the 68th commencement May 27. Graduate check-in starts at 6:30 p.m. The ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.
It's a happy coincidence for American Canyon that both student valedictory speakers are from American Canyon. NVC's top students are invited to audition to be valedictory speaker. The selection is made by a committee.
Elizabeth Corey is earning an A.A. degree in General Education from Napa Valley College simultaneously with a B.A. degree from Sonoma State University. At 43 she is fulfilling her life-long dream to become a teacher. Corey has a 3.6 GPA and has been active with the college honor society, Phi Theta Kappa. She is active in the Vocal Music Department, participating in numerous recitals and Cabaret Night, the annual departmental fund-raiser. She also has worked on campus as a notetaker for Special Services. A mother of twins and a Jazzercise instructor, she was a re-entry student.
Khaled Aboudamous, with a 3.7 GPA, was vice president of membership and scheduling of Phi Theta Kappa. He took 21 units this spring and will be graduating with an A.A. in Natural Science and Mathematics and a Certificate of Achievement (IGETC - Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum). He has been accepted to UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. President of the Business and Economics Club on campus, he was also founder of the Muslim Student Association and played on the Soccer Team. He acknowledges the help and support of Student Support Services. Aboudamous is a graduate of Vintage High School.
