Clinical Instructors (Part-Time, Hourly:

Requirements:

  • All applicants must have a current California Registered Nursing license and meet the BRN MMQ. Applicants need to be approved by the BRN prior to employment.
  • Section 1425(c): An instructor shall meet the following minimum qualifications:
    1. The education requirements set forth in subsection (a)(1);
    2. Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by
         A.  One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area; or
         B.  One (1) academic year or of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrate clinical competency; and
    3. Completion of at least one (1) year’s experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.
  • Section 1425(d): An assistant instructor shall meet the following minimum qualifications:
    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college which shall include courses in nursing, or in natural, behavioral or social sciences relevant to nursing practice;
    2. Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the content area to which he or she will be assigned, which can be met by:
         A. 
      One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area; or
         B. 
      One (1) academic year or of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrate clinical competency.
  • Section 1425(e): A clinical teaching assistant shall have at least one (1) year continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience in the designated nursing area within the previous five years (5) as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.

EMT Instructor (Part-Time, Hourly)
Part-time, hourly instructor wanted for Spring Semester in Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Medical Responder programs at Napa Valley College.

Requirements:

  • A.S. Degree and 6 years of experience in the EMS field OR B.S. degree and 4 years of experience in the EMS field.
  • 40 hours of instruction in teaching methodology.  Examples of this are listed below:
    1. State Fire Marshal Instructor 1A and 1B,
    2. National Fire Academy’s Instructional Methodology,
    3. Training programs that meet the United States Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 2002 Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors such as the National Association of EMS Educators Course.
  • In addition, applicants shall:
    1. Be a Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or a Paramedic currently licensed in California; or
    2. Be an Advanced EMT or EMT who is currently certified in California.
    3. Have at least two (2) years of academic or clinical experience in the practice of emergency medicine or prehospital care in the last five (5) years.

Applicants should hold a current 2011 American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider CPR card and preferably be an AHA BLS Instructor.  Applicants should be able to create and deliver a lecture using multimedia tools.  We are looking for creative, enthusiastic, working professionals to join our EMS team.  $50.08-$54.16/classroom hour.  For more information, contact C. Learning Disabilities Specialists (Part-Time, Hourly)
Napa Valley College is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly instructors to teach basic skills classes to learning-disabled students and provide support to NVC faculty regarding learning disabilities. Required qualifications: Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Rehabilitation Counseling and fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include, but not be limited to:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Deaf and hearing impaired disabilities
  • Physical disabilities or
  • Adapted computer technology

Biological Anthropology Instructor (Part-Time, Hourly)
The Napa Valley College Division of Social Sciences invites applications for our part-time anthropology instructor pool.  Primary consideration of candidates is dependent on ability to teach Introductory Biological Anthropology course for the fall 2012 semester.  This course introduces students to the theories, methods and applications of biological anthropology.  Topics include the scientific method, principles of evolution and adaptation, human genetics, human osteology, hominin species and the fossil record, and the anatomy and behavior of living non-human primates.
