Human Services Program Information

 

 

The Human Services Program at Napa Valley College is a communications-based program that teaches students how to empower others to solve their own problems. Students who receive a certificate or degree will gain useful skills to enter the field of human services as a para-professional. The program is flexible for those who continue towards a bachelor's degree in social work or related fields.

Skills you will gain from the Human services program include interpersonal communication skills, including active listening and problem solving; information, referral and advocacy with community agencies; case management and coordination of client services; paperwork management and organizational skills; increased awareness and sensitivity towards people from diverse backgrounds; self-development as a means to better serve others.
